This from Steve Box - Nick Park's co-director on Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit - when explaining the problems he had trying to get across British dialogue to their US backer: Dreamworks. Box admits "..but to be honest, English people don't particularly understand what it means either." True. It tickles your funny bone or it doesn't. What's to understand?
