Artist Sued For £2m!

Manchester City Council is bringing a High Court action against Thomas Heatherwick, because the "sculpture" B of the Bang he designed to mark the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester has been officially declared unsafe. Some of its spikes fell off in high winds, causing a road to be closed for a while. Costs have rocketed from an estimated £750,000 to £1.42 million and still it isn't completed. The model makes a striking image. Maybe a bit too striking!
