Dad's Army Van

A piece of BBC history comes up for grabs in Bonhams auction The Patrick Collection Part III at Mercedes-Benz World Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey, on 3 December. This is Lance Corporal Jones’ butchers van from the BBC television series Dad's Army, estimated value £20,000 to £30,000. TV aside, it's a 1935 Ford Box Van. They don't make automobiles like that any more. The beauty of the vehicle can be enjoyed by motor enthusiasts and non-drivers like myself. The fact that it is also a piece of British television history, makes it all the more special.

Those old bangers may look good, but a lot of them were death traps. So it's a good thing they don't make them like that anymore.
